What's Hallett up to?

Dr. John HallettTo update everyone post-sabbatical, I have decided to retire from veterinary practice and become a full time sculptor. I have thoroughly enjoyed my sabbatical the last two years, and I feel blessed to be able to pursue my artistic passion and complete my Masters in Fine Art. I will certainly miss all our wonderful coworkers and clients and hope to see everyone around Oconomowoc. While I have loved helping people and their pets as a veterinarian for 34 years, I also feel driven to create sculptures that nobody else can create because they are in my head. I know the amazing doctors and staff at Hallett Veterinary Hospital continue to take excellent care of all our patients.

Over the past several years, Heidi and I have put things in motion to keep Hallett Veterinary Hospital locally owned. In 2005, we welcomed Dr. Michael Fagan as an owner in the practice followed by Hospital Administrator Cyndi Valerio in 2017, and Drs. Rachel Oberholtzer and Ann Schneider in 2022. We also look forward to welcoming Dr. Colleen Carney as an owner in 2025. Dr. Heidi and I will still be involved in the management of Hallett Veterinary Hospital for a few more years.

Please check out hallettironworks.com or follow @hallettironworks on Instagram or Facebook to see what I have been creating. Next year, you can even see my largest bronze sculpture called “Forward Together” permanently installed outside the UW Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. I also have sculptures at Monona Terrace in Madison and the Bemidji, MN sculpture walk this year. If you know of any public art or private commission opportunities, please send them my way!
